Is buying un-id'd golds safe?
Looking into the future, I can see that after I max my treasure hunter title I'll still need to ID a couple thousand golds to get my wisdom title maxed (eh, terrible luck with grapes from chests) I see all those people selling un-id golds, and I don't know if they're botted or not. Is it safe to buy from those random people, or might anet ban me for supporting a bot or whatever?

Id also like to know that.
And one more thing while were here. Is selling unid golds safe? I mean half an hour ago i got a Cane with req 12 Illusion Magic, we all know its worthless, but it can be at least sold for the ID part, just to get a portion of the money spent on a lockpick back. But would i get labeled as a bot if i tried to sell it? Last edited by enxa; Apr 02, 2008 at 11:28 PM // 23:28.. |

U cant get banned for trading with someone because how would u know they are bots, Anet isnt that dumb
U cant get banned for for selling unid golds because Anet doesnt just randomly ban people that sell unids. They have security on their servers to try and stop people meaning -> You will get banned if ure bot sucks |

Its ok to trade with them, just don't expect much out of it. Expect gold armors to contain no runes (you still get the ID when you ID it IF it says Unidentified), no weapons will have +30hp on them because you can see this when you equip it without IDing it, and generally most upgrades will generally be pretty worthless. They like to sell canthan stuff that doesnt have inscriptions and generally sucks (like wands, offhands, and the such).
So don't do it for cash, just the ID, and make sure everything you buy says Unidentified on it by moving the mouse across each item before buying. |

I don't see how it breaks the rule. Most of them are simply dedicated farmers. Like said before, dont expect anything "decent" out of it as most unid golds are tested to sell only the crappy ones out of it. Most likely, these items are farmed in Tyria to make things worst. But who cares, you are using them for a title.

Presuming the "person" you're trading with does not clearly act like a bot, I don't think a-net would ban you for trading with them. (Moreover, if they speak English reasonably well, there's a fair chance they're a legit farmer.)
However, you should be aware that you are going to be getting nothing besides title points buying unID golds. Sellers of unID items take them to Isle of the Nameless to check out their mods first, and they salvage or ID anything that's actually worth having. |

you'll probably only get banned if you're dealing in 1000+ at one time. I used to do that for power trading but stopped when I went on deployment. one of the guys I knew who did the same thing kept doing it and he's now banned. looking around on the international districts, I don't really see any more farmers selling mass amounts of unid golds so I doubt buying in the amounts most people buy in won't have any effect. |

Yeah, in my opinion. If you're going for good mods, forget it. People can equip the weapon unid and see if it's got certain mods on it ( +30HP, 15/-1, +5E, -5E ect.)

You'd save a lot of money if you get the golds yourself. Raptor farming drops rediculous gold. Of course, this requires an E/A, A/E and I think W/Rt, probably a few other builds.
But if this doesn't work, disregard. |
